Liren’s 3 Assets

  1. Evaluation procedure
  2. Training programme
  3. Quality control
  1. 1) Evaluation procedure

The evaluation procedure is designed to define each learner’s linguistic profile. It is a two-stage process:
      • - Tests (oral and written)
      • - Need analysis
    • 1.1. Tests

The tests (oral and written) are meant to define each of the participant’s level of knowledge in the following:
      • mastery of grammar
      • richness of vocabulary
      • understanding of the spoken word
      • oral and written expression
This stage allows us to create groups of a similar level.
    • 1.2. Need analysis

Each learner is asked to fill out the ‘NEED ANALYSIS’ document. This stage makes it possible to precisely define each person’s needs and to bear these in mind when designing the training programme.
    • 1.3. Language profile

With the tests and need analysis in hand, we can establish a profile for each leaner. This report includes each one’s initial level, as well as their personal objectives.
    • 1.4. Group set-up

The group(s) is (are) set up in accordance with the candidates’ linguistic profile and personal objectives.

  2. 2) Training programme

The programme and educational approach are determined on the basis of the results of the evaluation procedure and the linguistic profile of all the learners. We analyse the precise nature of the job and the specific missions of the learners to find the most appropriate and targeted way of meeting their training objectives. We propose, insofar as possible:
    • to meet the learners’ superiors to finalise the training programme,
    • to use any information that might help us in setting up the training programme.
Practically speaking, the test supervisor sets out the training programme during a meeting with Liren’s educational service and with the trainer. The educational structure of the programme is set up incorporating the views of each party.
    • 2.1 Grammar

Grammar and vocabulary are learned gradually in combination with oral exercises (using subjects close to the learner’s professional situation) and written exercises (to be done outside class hours).
This way the learners understand the purpose of the new notion and can put it to use directly.
Grammar is taught selectively, targeting the needs and level of the participants.
The use of audio and/or video tapes helps to improve the learners’ understanding of the spoken word.
The (book) method is but a foundation, completed by a series of Liren’s own documents.
The use of specific supports is essential for truly made-to-measure classes.
This is why we ask that you provide us with any documentation representative of the candidates’ needs.
Grammar is revised periodically, in case of need, to ensure learners maximum ease in meeting functional needs in their target language.
An emphasis is therefore placed on role playing.
    • 2.2 Specific training objectives

The choice of objectives fixed for the course is made on the basis of tasks that the learners must be able to do as part of their job and specific missions. Emphasis is placed on:
      L’accent sera mis sur :
      • oral and/or written expression
      • understanding of the spoken and/or written word
The course consists mainly of simulating situations that resemble the learners’ professional environments.
The objective is to enrich their vocabulary and to familiarise them with certain idiomatic expressions and sentences specific to their jobs.
Once the course is completed, the participants will have acquired key tools to efficiently meet the difficulties encountered daily in their jobs.
The subjects, technical vocabulary and role playing vary depending on the needs expressed by the learners.

  3. 3) Quality control

    • 3.1. Direct control :

An e-mail is set to each participant, at different times during the course, to check their level of satisfaction:
      • 1ère étape:
Three weeks into the course, an initial e-mail is sent to evaluate customer satisfaction. This quality control procedure aims to ferret out any problems and to find a speedy solution.
      • 2nd stage:
At the end of the course, a final e-mail is sent to the learner to make sure he/she was satisfied with the experience.
This approach ensures both individual and group follow-up and promotes interactivity between the learner and the instructor. This way, the instructor can:
      • enrich the course based on any needs expressed by the learners,
      • ensure high-quality (made-to-measure) teaching.
    • 3.2. Indirect control :

LIREN also stays in contact with:
      • the training supervisor to make sure the course is going well (on a regular basis),
      • a few participants, chosen randomly, to check, in the target language, progress made and overall satisfaction (from time to time).
    • 3.3. Attendance

At the end of each class, the instructor asks participants to sign the attendance sheet.
Once a month, the instructor will review the participants’ attendance. In case of extended absences for internal reasons (too much work) or external reasons (illness, holidays), Liren will contact the training supervisor to determine a strategy together on how to meet the objectives set at the beginning of the course:
      • arrange for private classes to cover extended absences,
      • consider supplementary exercises for short-term absences.
You will be sent the attendance sheets at the end of the month complete with the participants’ signatures. We offer to accompany this with a summary of attendance, setting out each participant’s level of attendance.
    • 3.4. “Quality” guarantee for customers (internal audit)

Liren is proud to have the Q*For quality label, which has been the reference in the field of training since 1993 (last renewed in 2005). The Q*For audit report keeps up informed of customer comments with a view to continually improving our services.
    • 3.5. Continuing quality

The instructor also fills out a “Progress Report” at the end of each course. Thanks to this procedure, we can keep a continual eye on how the educational programme is working, and make sure it is meeting the professional needs of the learners. Liren leaves the instructors the liberty of dealing with other subjects based on requests made by the learners.
